TMJ Exercises and Tmj Massage

Life isn't always easy if you are somebody suffering from TMJ (temporomandibular joint disorder). It can cause jaw popping, discomfortable eating, headaches, pain while chewing, tooth pain, facial swelling, jaw locking, jaw dislocation, trouble swallowing, and even ear pain. You may be someone who doesn't have the money for expensive surgery, dental procedures, or uncomfortable devices and are seeking pain relief for TMJ. I am going to give you some simple TMJ exercises you can try out so you can get rid of that unwanted pain. If any of these exercises cause you too much discomfort do not attempt them.

1.) Extend you jaw forward, directly away from you and hold this position for a count of two seconds, then retract the jaw back to a natural, relaxed state for another two seconds. Do this for about ten to fifteen repetitions.

2.) This exercise you are going to perform exactly like the first one, only this time you will place two fingers on your chin to provide some resistance. Extend your jaw forward for two seconds, and then relax your jaw still providing resistance with your two fingers. Do this for ten to fifteen repetitions

3.) This next TMJ exercise is to strengthen the motions of the jaw, so you will be moving your jaw side to side for this exercise. Place two fingers on your left jawbone to provide resistance, open your mouth, and then using your fingers move your jaw to the left pressing against your fingers for two seconds. Next relax your jaw so your fingers are pressing your jaw to the right, and hold this for another two seconds, then repeat pushing your jaw against your two left fingers for two seconds, then relaxing and your fingers pushing your jaw to the right for another two seconds. After this do your other side, putting two fingers on your right jawbone and pressing your jaw into your fingers for two seconds, then relaxing and letting your fingers press your jaw to the left for another two seconds. Remember to keep your mouth open while you do this exercise.

4.) This jaw exercise is quite simple. All you do is open your mouth all the way and then close. Do this for six to ten repetitions.

5.) This next TMJ exercise can be useful if you are experiencing headaches from your TMJ. Open your mouth and run your finger along your top teeth until you get to the back, and you will feel a soft etch. Massage this area for about three to five seconds and make sure to do it on both sides.

This describes the TMJ pains and associated ailments of the body that come from the mal location of the jaw bone in its socket (TMJ). This posture is totally dependant on the fit of the teeth. When we do a bite correction procedure the pains and headaches stop. The profession has not been taught to do this. They generally recommend splints or jaw joint surgery. The splint changes the bite temporarily and relieves symptoms but when you take out the splint the same old bite restarts the problem. My book is a paradigm shift treatment and is very controversial.
